My husband and I are teaching a class together on February 10th and we hope you’ll join us. Consider taking some time out of your precious weekend to explore the condition of your heart. This time can help you discover the adjustments you can make in 2018 in order to fine-tune your best life. This is a very intense time in our world and a lot of us are feeling stuck in subtle or not-so-subtle ways. Here are some of the areas we plan to explore in the class:

We plan to teach some tools for connecting to ourselves. In this time when most of us are permanently attached to our phones, we always have something to look at if a moment of our day is not filled. Sometimes I have clients enter my office and they no longer remember what was going on for them when they booked the appointment. But once they take a moment to connect with their hearts, they remember. Our truth lies within us and we need to focus internally in order to find that truth. There are hugely practical ways in which listening to our truth can help us walk a path that fits us. For example, sometimes a client will come into my office and they are struggling with depression or anxiety or just plain-old unhappiness. As they try to convince themselves to be happy and calm, our work together starts to unravel some of the reasons that they are not. I don’t figure out for my clients what is going to make them happy. My job is to help them uncover what is already inside of them that will help remove the people, places, and things that are not working for them and add in the things that do. The only way to uncover this is to find it within. We will cover concepts and do exercises in the class that will help you work on this unraveling. So if there are aspects of your life that don’t fit you just right, come to the class to find out more.

Another area we want to cover in the class is how to connect with others. We all need connection with others in order to thrive in our society. I imagine that if we decided to live a life of solitude then we wouldn’t need these skills, but none of us reading this is in a cave in the Himalayas at the moment. We need to connect with our co-workers, our partners, our friends, our children….in order to thrive. Think about the models you had for connection. How were you treated in your household when you were growing up? How did you see your parents treat one another or the other people you lived with? Are there any ways in which you have carried on some of their questionable relationship habits? Sometimes we are taught ways of being subservient to others or reactive to others without a word ever being spoken about it. Learning how to remain open and curious in order to connect with those arounds us helps us to have relationships that work better for everyone. So if there are relationships in your life that you find tricky, come to the class to find out more.

Another topic we want to cover in the class is how to be more authentic in our lives. Most of us learn from a young age to cover up our vulnerabilities with an image of how we think we should be perceived rather than who we are. We often have a long list of reasons for why we need to hide this or cover up that. We might hide what we don’t know because we tell ourselves a story that we should know. Or we dress or act or edit ourselves differently when we are with different people. The things that we hide gradually accumulate and we end up in pain because we are living a life that does not authentically fit us. But we are still stuck with the long list of reasons why we believe that we need to keep our mask in place. If there are ways in which you know you do not act as your authentic self, come to the class to explore your options. You can always put the mask right back on if you don’t find a better way, but why not take a risk and try?

We hope to see you on February 10th! And by joining us you’ll be giving support to a wonderful cause (100% of the class fee will be paid directly to the African Dream Movement www.ourafricandream.org )

We invite you to join us for a day of connection on February 10, 2018 from 9am to 1pm. We will teach the class in our home, which is where our hearts live. We will donate all of the money earned from teaching that day to the African Dream Movement to help fund their future programs. You can sign up for this class as an individual or you can invite your partner, friend, neighbor, boss, parent…to join you.
